If You Want to Transform You Must Do This {Video}

A few weeks ago I introduced the first of five important things one can do to transform. For me the first was a big change of my surroundings and the decision to move to Boston. Obviously, it wouldn't make sense for most of us to pick up and move every time we needed to shake some stagnation or debris from our lives, but it doesn't mean we can't have regular pattern breaks.

Challenge Your Status Quo

If you want to refine something in your life, you know it will require tweaking certain areas. If you wish to have more energy, you might need to quit coffee, be in bed by 10pm each night and pay attention to what you are eating. If however you want to transform yourself into a high level athlete, you probably need to overhaul your diet, commit a great deal of time each day to training and work with a coach on a program to turn you into a high performance machine. Whatever your ultimate or ideal goal may be, I would bet that your current status quo needs to be shaken up to give you the space and the energy to achieve it. 

There is a certain energy that comes to life when we try anything new that is slightly out of our comfort zone or regular routine. Your mind is working hard to take in new information and see the world from a new perspective. The attention that requires is often enough for you to feel more awake and present than you probably are when you are running through a typical day entrenched in your status quo.

How Can You Challenge The Status Quo?

In order to create pattern breaks in your life you can do any and all of the following things:

  • vacation in a climate unlike your own
  • change your exercise routine 
  • learn a new skill
  • take a philosophy class
  • meditate
  • study another culture or language

There are so many possibilities for shaking up the status quo in wonderful ways. Above all find something that catches your interest and pay attention to the shifts that occur for you. In fact, I have created the Ultimate 30 Day Challenge to help you with that. It begins October 6, so don't wait.
