What to Do When Things Feel Tough

If things are feeling tough in your life or business right now, here is a two-step process that can help (it has never let me down):

  1. Don’t try to coach yourself

Here’s the honest truth—even with all my coaching experience and certifications, I do not try to coach myself when I am spinning out because there is no way I can hold a bigger perspective when stuck in serious Static.

I hand it off and reach out to someone whose perspective isn’t tangled up with mine—usually Steve (my coach-in-residence/husband) or someone on my personal coaching team.

Asking for support is a form of self-investment we all deserve.

Reaching out will get you back on track so much faster than trying to muscle through solo and asking for help is a good habit to develop.

  1. Only after I am beyond the Static, I find the gold

After the Static has been HEAL-ed, I dig deeper and find the gold. Sometimes it is a personal learning, other times it is a tool for my clients or a chapter for my next book.

When you decide to treat your experiences like raw materials waiting to be transmuted into something that benefits the world, you will begin to live a truly Visionary life.

The next time something tough happens, decide how you want to show up with love for yourself and see if there is a nugget of gold beneath the challenge.

Your challenges can become the very wisdom and strength you pass on. Give yourself that kindness—and notice what new possibilities unfold for you and those you serve.

This will change your life, and it might change someone else's too.
