Ep 50: Betrayal

Relationships • Feb 12, 2019 6:01:00 AM • Written by: Erin Aquin

Important: This podcast is the tip of the iceberg in dealing with feelings of being betrayed. It is a great start, but if you are serious about working through it in a way that empowers you to do what is best for your life, I want to invite you to a free consultation here to learn how to work with me.

Think of it as a first date with your future self who already knows what you want and how to get it.

woman-crosses-arms-and-legs-with-angry-face_925x (1)If you feel like there has been a betrayal in your relationship and you don't know if you can move forward beyond it, listen to this episode and consider what I am offering you.

If you missed my episode on Trust it will set the context and give you a foundation for taking this further.

When you feel betrayed, there are a few things you will want to do that don't help you in the long run. They are:

  • avoid the feeling completely and shut down
  • distract yourself with an indulgent behaviour (emotional eating, drinking, drugs, days on the couch watching Netflix)
  • over-acting the feeling (i.e. melting down and yelling at the cashier of the grocery store)

Today I want to share with you a different way to begin to deal with the negative thoughts and feelings you have about what the other person did so you don't harm yourself further or make their actions mean something horrible about YOU.

Get out a pen and paper for this episode and if you are in the midst of dealing with the impact of feeling betrayed in your relationship, remember you don't need to figure this out on your own.
