Welcome to Behind the scenes. We are back from Hawaii, I'm drinking coffee and my I was looking at I'm sorry, I'm distracted, my mug matches my sweater. I love this mug. We just got back from Hawaii, our family is still getting over a little bit of jetlag

sleeping in way too late.

Erin Aquin  0:23
But we wanted to make sure that we did a behind the scenes for all of you. You may have heard the podcast episode that we recorded this week, which was the truth about vacations as a business owner. W shared a lot of candid realizations there. But we have a few more that are kind of just for family, just for you that we wanted to share.

Steve Haase  0:44
And one thing that was really interesting was the degree to which we actually just completely unraveled on vacation, we were gone for three weeks. And when we first left, we were thinking, Alright, you take the kids while I go work out. And then you know, I'll be journaling and meditating and stuff while you guys go on a walk together, we just basically had all our kind of standard self care ideas in mind, for a completely different environment and a completely different situation. And after about two or three days, all of the things stopped happening. Like none of it was on the schedule. Yeah.

Erin Aquin  1:22
You know, for me, I thought, oh, there's a gym at the place that we're staying. So I'm definitely going to go to the gym every day, and I'm going to do an hour of working out and I'm gonna have an hour of solo time, because, you know, it's gonna be the four of us 24/7, which we have done before, but you know, we haven't done for a few years. And I remember going to the gym one day, and I was like, Oh, I hate going to the gym. I, I love working out in my basement alone, I feel super self conscious when I'm doing a workout, like with other people like the weights and the bodies and the things. I'm like, I didn't come here to spend time in the gym, I came here to swim in the ocean, and to walk my little special ring that tracks all my sleep and my activity, you know, I was getting 10s of 1000s of steps a day just from walking to the beach and walking on the beach. And it's interesting, because I think as coaches, we thought we would just like pack up our self care routine and transport it to Hawaiian time. And kind of the same thing a few days in, I had the realization because I'm starting to get like, Oh, I haven't done any journaling. I haven't really done any deeper. Like in our work, I haven't done that workout I thought it was going to do. And I started to kind of tell myself a story about how that was really a bad thing. But I realized that that was not the point, this trip, the singular focus, one intention that I had was deep time with you and our kids. And once I sort of realized that I was able to soften around, there's going to be time and a necessity to have those visionary practices, those sustaining rituals, the things that we do in our regular day to day life that keep our energy up, that keep us inspired and focused on what we're doing in our personal life and here in the business. But that didn't need to be so rigid instruction scheduled in this time that we very intentionally said was going to be unstructured and unscheduled.

Steve Haase  3:44
Yeah. And maybe you hear this and you think you guys are crazy that you would even try to do that, like who are you. But there's probably something in your life that you hold on to really closely that if you were to let go of you would judge yourself as having gone off the rails or you know, lost the plot. And I think the thing that really struck me with being there in that space was that I get to be who I am for the moment. And it's all good. And I don't need to worry about Will I get back on track? Or will I be irredeemable after you know, two and a half weeks of not self coaching on vacation?

Erin Aquin  4:26
Yeah, I mean, if you think about this as like, the last time we went to Maui, you biked up the volcano. I drove up after kind of knowing that Steve did this crazy bike ride last time where he biked 10,000 feet up, up the volcano road. And we drove up as a family and art we were all kind of stunned at how you however you did that. But after that big push, there was a period of time where you needed that recovery. And I sort of feel like for this trip, it was our recovery. Very after a marathon or a big sporting event, and it's been really nice being back, because now I'm seeing that there were things I was probably doing in my regular routine that had just become status quo that maybe weren't supporting me in a way that something now new that I now have space for could come in, and, and support. So don't be afraid of intentionally letting go of your routines sometimes just to see what you actually need at this new level, especially if you've just gone through like a big push for a big milestone. What is this version of you? And maybe your business and your family? What is it? What does it need from you?

Steve Haase  5:45
Absolutely. It can be very energizing. And one of the things that has us energized is the three day relationship based workshop that we're doing for sales, relationship based sales workshop. It's awesome, it's coming up in April. And if you ever find yourself feeling kind of icky, or wanting to not sell in your business for any reason, you're gonna love this, because it's all about the human side of sales. It's all about how the relationships that are already in your life and the relationships that you want in your life can be vehicles for building the business of your dreams. So join us there.

Erin Aquin  6:29
Yeah, this was something that did come up did come about because of our time off, we were was kind of thinking like this was the first big span of time that I have taken off completely Steve, of course, was was working with a client and doing some other things. He was working a little bit. But this was the first vacation where I have made some serious money without actually being the person who is doing the things like our business and be personally making money. But our business made money simply because we had a foundation of relationships and clients and you know, potentialities out there that just happened to come in during that span of time where I happen to not be working. So it got me really excited to think like, this is kind of the entrepreneur dream that people try and sell us they're like, make money while you sleep. Here, the cash register going off while you're sitting on the beach. But the reality is like that did happen. And it's not because of some like scheme or tactic. It's because we have created a business that is largely based on relationship sales, relationship based sales. So we're going to teach you how we did it. But more importantly, instead of teaching you our framework for that, we're going to help you discover what your relationship based sales process looks like. And we're going to do that together over three days in April. As Steve said, it's only $47 we want this to be a low barrier to entry. Even though we know many of you have very successful businesses, you might think, Oh, what's this $47 course gonna mean for me. We just want to give you a chance to test drive and see if this process could really work for you. We know it can. We've worked through this with many different clients in many different industries. But we're sharing it with you for the first time so you can head over to besuperabound.com/sales and we'll have a link here on this page. We would love to have you in that class.
