Someone says something (likely coming from a harmless place), you start to think some thoughts about it that create the feeling of being insecure.
This happened to me recently and I decided to do an experiement on how to handle it.
Instead of:
yelling at the other person, bursting into tears, pretending nothing was wrong, eating a box of cookies, telling all my friends about it, shaming myself for feeling insecure, holding a grudge for the next 5 years or doing any of the things one does in the face of an emotion I don't like
I did something totally new and processed the emotion in a way that taught me a lot.
If you want to learn how to do this for yourself, I would love to be your guide.
