Yoga Videos For Real Life

Written by Erin Aquin | Nov 20, 2013 3:00:00 PM

I began doing Yoga every morning with a video. The background to this video was a beautiful beach and the teacher spoke in a very soothing, soft voice (the softer the voice the more spiritual people are...right?). This was my first introduction to the practice of Yoga, long before the days of seeing a studio or two within every city block. Just me and a teacher on a screen. Today, I'm excited to launch the Aquin Yoga video library. While I may not have the beach as my background yet, what I do have is a way to bring you some powerful yoga in bite-sized pieces that, with your inquiries and interest, we will build upon in the coming weeks.

When you visit the page, choose one of the options that best describes you.

I am a Beginner: I am new to yoga and I want to become stronger, more flexible and learn as much as possible about this amazing discipline. These videos are a good starter to offer you a solid foundation.

I am a seasoned Yogi: I have been doing and loving yoga for some time now and am looking to move forward in my practice in fun and creative ways. Check these videos out for more advanced work.

I am an Athlete: I love sports and physical culture, and need some yoga to help my body stay flexilbe and healthy and keep my mind uncluttered. These videos are for you.

I need a sanity break: I have very little downtime and too much to do. Yoga is helpful for me, but I can't always make the time for it. These videos are for "busy people" who need some love.

To increase your video enjoyment, I recommend the following:

1) Subscribe to both this blog (on this page and to the right) and when the video prompts you to. This will ensure you are up to date with the latest yoga goodness and newest videos we produce for the world. Don't miss a thing.

2) Watch first, try second. It is hard to watch and do at the same time. The videos are short so you can watch it through one time and then try it out along with me once you have a better idea what we are up to.

3) Remember, if you decide to do the practice in the videos (yoga isn't a spectator sport), check with your primary health care practitioner first. As with any physical activity, there is always some risk involved and without a teacher in the room guiding you, it is your responsibility to be your own teacher and guide. Yoga isn't about pushing past what is reasonable, it is about developing more awareness.

4) Schedule a Helpout. If you have a computer with a webcam, you can schedule a live one-on-one session with me. Here we can do a short practice and go over anything that you may be finding tricky in your practice. Bonus: this month my live Google Helpouts are available at a discount!

5) Make requests. This is your video library, so tell me what you want to see and what you want to learn more about. I promise I will do my best to make it happen. You can comment below with your questions and ideas or email me erin{at}aquinyoga.com

Enjoy!
